Gets Jazzed up for
SOWETO KINCH

On Thursday 27th April 2006 (which was the first night of Cheltenham's International Jazz Festival) I was once again in the S.U. Bar, this time it was to see SOWETO KINCH and this was the first time that the University was being used for a public event like the Jazz Festival. I arrived in the bar at 8 O'clock and started to enjoy funky sounds that the D.J. was putting on the Record Decks, then at about 10.15 Soweto Kinch came on stage with his band to perform a set of music that I would describe as a fusion between JAZZ and RAP.

The band line-up was:-

• SOWETO KINCH - Saxophone / Rap Vocals
• ABRAM WILSON - Trumpet / Vocals
• FEMI TEMOWO - Guitar
• NEIL CHARLES - Bass
• TROY MILLER - Drums

Unfortunately, because I was leaving at 11.00 I only saw about four numbers, the best of which (I thought) was JAZZ PLANET, which had great audience participation.
